George Vassilellis

Reservoir Engineer

George has over 30 years of experience in geology, reservoir engineering and oil and gas field operations at both operating and consulting companies. He specializes in unconventional resource assets and thermal EOR and has also contributed to the commercialization of major upstream projects globally. Additionally, he has published over 25 technical papers and co-authored textbook materials in unconventional resource exploitation and development.

Prior to his current endeavours, George spent 4 years at Repsol as a co-director of the US based Technology Hub, a bridge between strategic research and field operations, developing leading technology in the challenging mid-continent.

Previously he was a senior manager with Gaffney, Cline & Associates (GCA) that was acquired by Baker Hughes in 2008. George has been a key technical contributor at Baker Hughes where he was named a Shale Engineering/Reservoir Subject Matter Expert. Before that he was with SI International (presently MHA Petroleum Consultants) in California and before that with Richardson Operating Company, an independent based in Denver, Colorado.

George earned a BSc in Geology from Aristotle University in Greece and a MSc in Petroleum Engineering from Colorado School of Mines, and he is a registered Professional Engineer (Petroleum) since 2003.
